Bristol eats: ANNA Cake Couture

In the heart of Clifton village, opposite the arcade, is the pristine and beautifully displayed ANNA Cake Couture. Here you will find incredibly delicate wedding cakes, macaroons of every flavour and an array of amazing patisseries.

A beautiful sight

You can drop in for coffee, a satisfying arrange of tea and cake, and they also run special classes for the avid bakers amongst us.

I was treated to tea and cake as a belated birthday gift from my beautiful friend Claudia. We met in our first year (I thought she was called Kladia), and is she is such a lovely and supportive friend. (Plus she’s also raising money for a charity trip to Nepal to provide free dental care, so if you fancy checking her page out, click here).

The cafe itself was every blogger’s dream: glass fronted, bare wooden floor boards, white walls, green plants and lots of copper detail. The cakes were presented beautifully, and there was an impressive array of tea blends and other hot drinks. The most charming part of ANNA’s is that the kitchen is open, so whilst you have your cake fix you can watch the expert team of bakers work their magic.

Hi insta

We tried a selection of 5 minicube cakes: peanut butter and chocolate (my first choice), malted date (sticky toffee pudding kinda vibe), coffee, lemon and pistachio with rose. Claudia had rose tea whilst I had mint. A nice touch was that the tea was served with a little timer in order to achieve the correct brew.

There is no eloquent way to say it: the cakes were quite simply AMAZING. The flavours weren’t too overpowering but complimented each other very well, and they weren’t too sweet either. My favourite was the pistachio and rose, but all 5 are highly recommended! Having 5 between 2 of us was a perfect amount.

The staff were friendly, and the aesthetic mixed with the quality of the cakes made it a really special experience. It would be a nice place to take any baker, if you have family or friends coming to visit (because Clifton is so lovely anyway!), or you just want a tasty and aesthetically pleasing treat.

I will be returning to sample their macaroons hopefully ASAP.

Thank you Claudrey!
