Bristol is a great place to be if you’re a vegan or vegetarian. Last week, when the girls came to visit, we were treated to lunch at Maitreya Social– a vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Easton, Bristol.
Although not too central, Easton is easily accessible by car or by bus, and Maitreya Social makes it well worth the journey.
What I liked about Maitreya Social was that the food was simple, fresh and colourful. Vegetarian and vegan food can often be neglected on some restaurant menus, I can imagine that the classic salad or risotto or roasted vegetables can get a little tiring. So it was comforting to visit a restaurant where all the dishes looked tasty and were thoughtfully created. You can check out their menus here.
The restaurant itself was light and colourful, the staff were extremely accommodating as they managed to fit us in despite it being a busy Sunday. The waitresses were friendly and our food was served quickly, which is always a positive!
My bestie Ella and I share everything when we’re together. We went for the Maitreya burger, chunky wedges & slaw ( + halloumi obvs ) and the goats cheese and sun-dried tomato bruschetta. The portions were extremely generous and the Bruschetta especially was simple and fresh- the flavour combination worked perfectly. Ruthie had the bruschetta too, and Jade and her dad shared the vegan sharing platter and burger.
Us girls also tried an Aperol Spritz which I can highly recommend!
Overall the food was reasonably priced, and the array of dishes available was impressive. It would be perfect for a family lunch or dinner with friends.
We’ll definitely be back!
